Stress A Little Less

Deep breath in.

The holidays can be one of the most stressful times of the year. It can be caused by a number of things; work, family, money, time or travel.

We expect it to decrease after the start of the year but 9 times out of 10 more stuff just gets piled on top.

Living a more stress free 2016 is definitely on my list so I figured I would share the tips I’ve found to help you release some of your stress and make 2016 your best year yet.

Step 1: Self-Care

You had to know this was coming. I’m a huge advocate of bubble baths, hair masks and taking care of your skin. There is just something about pampering yourself. One thing I need to work on is getting more sleep and drinking more water. Both can have such a big impact on your day if your severely lacking either.

Step 2: Music

Studies have shown that music is proven to decrease anxiety and pain while improving creativity and increasing optimism. This came as no surprise to me! I’m a huge music lover and can admit to turning on some relaxing music when I feel stressed. I recommend creating a custom station on iHeart Radio but they have some great pre-made stations as well.

3. Yoga

Yoga is know to many as a way to stay fit but it can also be extremely beneficial for anyone with stress and anxiety. You can find many poses and videos on pinterest. HERE is our favorite!

4. Recover

Sometimes mindless entertainment is exactly what you need to stay sane. So, if hanging on the couch with your dog and a heated blanket while marathon-ing through an entire old season of Project Runway is exactly what you need, I say go for it!

If you’re in the mood for something that will both entertain and engage your mind, we recommend signing up for a class. A cooking class, dance class or art class might be just what you’re looking for.
